United States Medical Licencing Examination Step 1

To practice medicine in the United States, passing the United States Medical Licensing Examination, commonly known as the USMLE Exam, is mandatory. Sponsored by the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) and the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME), the USMLE comprises three steps: Step 1, Step 2CK, and Step 3.

Step 1 is a one-day, computer-based examination primarily taken after the second year of medical school. It evaluates your understanding of fundamental principles and concepts in basic sciences crucial for medical practice. Emphasizing the application of these principles to health, disease, and treatment, the exam ensures a strong foundation in scientific principles necessary for continuous learning in medicine.
